At the beginning of class we had to first show Ms.D the homework that was due on Tuesday and then we went over the homework that is on Moodle.
Due Thursday: The food packet activity for the people in Speech and Debate.
Due Friday: Study for quiz. The will be focusing on animal cells, plant cells, cell theory, how something is alive, chemical compounds in cells and how cells function in the environments. (There will be a review session on Thursday) Another thing that is due Friday is the second blog comment. Also don’t forget to measure and water your plant.

Later on we took a few notes on:
Melanin: a pigment in humans that reacts to sun light
Chlorophyll: green pigment
Fiber/cellulose: material from plant that humans cannot digest, causes excretion
Celery is a good example of fiber.
We also talked about the Tree Man. He has a special parasite that causes him to grow abnormal things on his skin.

We also went over the food labeling activity and explained it to the people that were not there. After that we looked at a few blog posts and comments. Ms.D showed us a few ways how to write a better comment or post.
· -check your grammar, spelling and punctuation
· -add pictures
· -check rubric
· -choose the right font and color
· -give the link to Moodle
· -add captions to pictures
· add both positive and negative blog comments

Hi Antonia! This is a great post, and you did all of the things you listed that Ms. D told us to do on our post! You included pictures, links, captions, etc. One thing you could have odne is check your grammar a little bit, for example "The will be focusing on....". The what? I liked your post; it was easy to read and it was in a good size. You could have written morea bout the food labeling activity (for example how many carbohydrates there are in a gram of proteins, etc.) Other than that, I think this is a great post for someone who was absent and you clearly followed all of the instructions! Great job!
ReplyDeleteI think this was a great post except for one grammar mistake. I liked how you had a picture and a link to more info on the Tree Man. I also liked that you put what Ms. D said in class about the blogs. Even though I wasn't in class that day, I feel like I am pretty caught up.. maybe some more on what notes you took in class. Overall nice job! ;)
ReplyDeleteAntonia it was a very good post. It was very thoughtful of you to put that the food label packet was due Thursday for the speech and debate people. Also it was a good idea to have the celery there as an example. However there are a few place you could improve. I as Sophie and Viktor said recommend that you fix the grammar mistake at the beginning of your paragraph of what the quiz is about. Also instead of saying "abnormal things" you could say bark which is what is actually is. Also at the end of the Friday section of the homework you have remember to water/measure your plant it was a good idea to add however you should have put it under Thursday due to the fact that we had to water it on Thursday. In addition instead of putting the URL for the tree-man you could have hyper linked "CNN link" to take you to the article, might make the post look better. It is a very nice post but there are a few additions and modifications you could make to make it nearer to perfection.

ReplyDeleteI like that you 've put the moodle site on your Blog. You also described the whole science class with a lot of details, what is a good thing. I also like that you 've used links, pictures and the date of the science-class as a headline. And you nearly don't have any spelling-mistakes. I don't really like the different types of the letters, because they seem a bit disturbing to me. But after all it is a pretty good Blog!

ReplyDeleteFirst of all I'd like to say great job for describing what happened in class very well. This post helped me a lot because I was away on Tuesday and now I know what happened the day I was gone. I liked how you managed to put in lots of details about what was covered. For the science it was good that you covered what Melanin and Chlorophyll meant. That was good for me because I wasn't here that day. I think that you could have mentioned a little more about the food labeling activity. And also covered more of what it was about. But it was still very good when it came to detail in most parts of the scribe post.

ReplyDeleteGodo job on your scribe post, I really like that you put links all over the post. However, I do not understand what you did close to the end where you wrote "· -". Another advice would be to go more in depth about the test and explain a bit for every topic. Such ass: The test will be on cells, the building blocks of life, and how something is alive, it moves, respires, stimulus(feels), grows, reproducts, excretes, nutrition/NRG. Except that everything is great, good job!

Hey Antonia good post. It has links and pics and the information but there is room for improvement. You could have put some more pics or diagrams maybe. Also you did not really explain everything like the food label activity. In the future please put more detail into the work and use more pictures

Good job on the post, Antonia. I liked how you stated the homework, a few definitions of what we did in class, a picture, and an external link. You could've gone into more depth with what we did in class, and could've explained your definitions of Clorophyll and Melatonin a bit more.

ReplyDeleteThis post was good and i saw no spelling or grammatic mistakes, and what made this post even better was that you used all the advise that ms.D gave us during class and listed all of them. But what i found disconcerting in this post was the change in font size and you could have added color to your text.

Antonia - nice first scribe post of the year. I do think you have some room for improvement though. Make sure to include more than one picture dealing with your topic, be more specific with your labels and go through the rubric more carefully before finalizing your post. You have good sized and colored font, although it switches size during the post which makes the layout look confusing. Nice link to Moodle and the information about the "Tree Man". I do also think you could have included more information on the Food Label Activity as that was the major focus of the class and the science content. Overall, nice work. ~Ms. D.
