Ciprian's Reflection Post

I felt I have improved as a blogger in many different ways over the past few years considering the fact that I had no knowledge of blogs before we started it as a Science project. I learned how to add pictures and videos, change fonts and the colors of fonts, furthermore I learned how to add links and organize my post in a manner that is not only easy to read but also appealing to the eye and last but not least I improved the quality of my writing. I think blogs are really helpful in classrooms because sick students can check up on it and catch up with what they missed in class that day or that week. It is also helpful because this way students can review what they have done in class simply by checking the blog. A blog can also be used for studying for upcoming tests by seeing a summarized version of what the students learned in class. Blogging has helped my overall writing in a way that is hard to describe. Apart from the obvious grammar/spelling improvement it has taught me to get straight to the point rather than just add words to make it sound good. It has also taught me that when I am writing for science the writing isn't supposed to focus on being as flowery as possible it is supposed to talk about the science. Blogging helped me when commenting to other people's writing because the countless comments I wrote taught me that I shouldn't point out only the negative things about their writing but I should also talk about what they did very well. The most important thing I learned from blogging is that a picture is worth a thousand words. Meaning that visual effects not only greatly help me getting my point trough but also support what I am saying.

Its name comes from the Roman god of the sea, Neptune. Its symbol is Neptune's trident as you can see below.

Interesting Facts
Triton is the coldest known planetary system in our Solar System and has nitrogen ice volcanoes that shoot out ice plumes 20 miles high.
Neptune has the fastest winds in the Solar System (2000 km/hr), it also has the closest gravitational pull in comparison to our Earth (1.17G) and Pluto may have been a moon of Neptune's that escaped its gravitational pull.

Ciprian's Reflection Post

I feel I improved as a scriber this quarter by adding more links and using the blogger interface better. Next quarter I believe it is necessary to work on my spelling, and add a lot more science into my writing. I also need to do my post on time. The benefits of using a class blog is that students that were sick can catch up on the work they missed in class and students can also check their homework. It is bad to have a class blog for four quarters in a row because by the time we get to the last quarter most people lose their enthusiasm about doing the best posts and comments they can the quality of the blog drops significantly.

Genetics on Tuesday February 1st 2011

On class on Tuesday we continued delving in the secrets of Genetics. The homework for Tuesday was the Bikini Bottoms Genetics which you can find
here. At the beginning of class

Ms. D chose us to write down the exercises we did. Next, we continued on the Bikini Bottoms Genetics and we finished the rest of the problems in class. We received another piece of which can be found
right here. The first six problems were a piece of cake but the following four were rather challenging.






An example of a problem would be:





1. In chimpanzees, straight fingers are dominant to bent fingers. Complete a Punnett square to show the genotypes and phenotypes expected for the following cross: heterozygous straight x homozygous bent (F – dominant; f - recessive)

Ciprian's Reflection Post

Reflecting back to this quarter's post I realize I have done more bad things than good, which I find rather disappointing and I hope to improve next quarter. The bad things I have done include: having no captions for my pictures, having no font variation, not saying who the next scribe is, not mentioning eukaryotic and prokaryotik cells, not including th kingdoms, the pictures were too small, and I talked too little about the flower baby project. I have also done some good things such as having good links, good pictures, helpful links and a video.
The way I will improve my next quarter's blog post is by including all the things i did not do the first quarter. I will also send a rough copy to a friend before I post it and ask for his opinion.
The benefits I see in blogging apart from developing good writing skills is that we can get other's people opinions about our work. I enjoyed writing this reflection post because it gives me a chance to understand and see what I did good and bad. I did not enjoy writing all the comments because I do not think my comment helped the people too much.

The class of December the 10th

Hello Everyone,


Today we weighed our flour babies, a project we are working on in our wellness class. This has been the third time we weighed our flour babies and it is the second last time we will ever do it. Basic Definition:

The cell cycle, or cell-division cycle, is the series of events that take place in a eukaryotic cell between its formation and the moment it replicates itself. These events can be divided in two main parts: interphase (in between divisions phase grouping G1 phase, S phase, G2 phase), during which the cell is forming and carries on with its normal metabolic functions; the mitotic phase (M mitosis), during which the cell is replicating itself. Thus, cell-division cycle is an essential process by which a single-cell fertilized egg develops into a mature organism and the process by which hair, skin, blood cells, and some internal organs are formed.
