  • Located in the Kuiper Belt
  • 3x farther away from Earth than Pluto
  • It is the most distant dwarf Planet when it is in its aphelion
  • About 96.7 AU (aphelion) from the sun ( 14.60×109 km )
  • Perihelion: 38 AU ( 5.64×109 km)

When discovered and by Who
  • Discovered by Mike Brown, Chad Trujillo and David Rabinowitz

  • Expected to arrive at Pluto in 2015

Interesting Facts
  • Most Distant Dwarf Planet to orbit the Sun
  • Eris is the reason why Pluto is not a Planet anymore (27% more massive)
  • The largest dwarf planet in our Solar System
  • Smaller than Earths Moon
  • Some people associate it with 2012
  • The naming of the Dwarf Planet and classifying Pluto as a Dwarf Planet led to a lot of strife, which is why the dwarf planet is now called Eris

  1. Hi Antonia,
Your post is MUCH better than last quarter! You had captioned pictures (although you could have included a few more), you had links, you had the date in your title, etc. You still could have used more color in your post, and make sure the font doesn't change when you write in numbers! You have a few grammatical mistakes, for example you wrote "Earths Moon" instead of "Earth's Moon". You had good science, but you could have explained what Gabrielle had to do with the planet and why it is nicknamed after her. Other than that, your post is really good with good detail and correct labels! :)

  2. Hey Antonia,
I really liked your post! It was very organized and you added some links to sites. You had a few spelling errors, though. Also, you mentioned that Eris is the reason Pluto is considered a dwarf planet, and I think it would have been good if you told us why. However, your link dealt with dwarf planets which I thought was very good. Overall, your blogging has really improved!

  3. Hey Antonia! I really liked how you set up the info because it made it easy to read and understand. The hyperlinks and pictures were good and interesting too. To improve your post, you could have maybe put more pictures and some different colors. Although you could have described what the kuiper belt is, an aphelion, and a perihelion are, great job!

  4. Hey Antonia-
Your scribe post was really good! It was very clear and understandble, and I agree with Sophie that the information was very easy to understand. I liked both of your pictures and you wrote captions too! You did make a few mistakes in grammar and I think a little it more color would hve looked nice. I think that you could have explained some things a it more, like who Gabrielle is (even thought the people who were present in class understand, others may not, so it would have been useful to explain that) and when you wrote in your interesting facts that 'some people associate it with 2012' you could have gone into further detail about that, because I did not understand what that meant. But overall, great scribe post!

  5. Antonia - Nice improvement here from your last quarter's post. You covered all of the information from your presentation, but I do think you could have gone further into depth about some of it (Gabrielle/Xena, 2012, why Eris got Pluto demoted to a dwarf planet). Your pictures look great and you have them captioned, although I do think you could have a few more. Grammar and spelling look okay, although there are a few errors. Your hyperlinks work well and have provided the reader with some new information. Just be careful of length. Nice work on the title and labels. Good work overall ~Ms. D.

  6. Hi there Antonia,
Great Post! I really enjoyed reading your post! You have great informartion on what you did in class, and I understood it perfectly. You have great grammar and spelling, except for a couple of mistakes. Your pictures are really good, and you were careful not to bore the reader with your writing. Though, I still think that you could have added a bit of enthusiasm to your post. As Ms.D already said, you gave great new information, and that helped undertand more things about Eris. For example, I had no idea that it took Eris so many earth days to finish its revolution, or that the atmosphere was frozen to the surface of Eris. Overall, great science and work, and great improvement from last year. Keep up the good work! ;)

  7. Hi Antonia,
your post has good layout, well organized, but the title and subtitles could have a bigger font or different colors than the main body paragraphs.
In between your data, you could have included a couple of pictures, so you could have a more eye-catching post. You should have explained more about Eris, comparing it to the other planets, also about it's orbit by adding other scientific hyperlinks. Overall, I like this post and I know the next one will be great. Dave :-D

  8. Hi Antonia!
Your post was very well organized. I liked your pictures, but you could have included a few more. Your information was well understandable; however you could have clarified some things that others have already mansion for example 2012 which people who didn’t hear your presentation might get confused about. You also had some spelling and grammar mistakes and a little lack of colors. I still think this is a good post. You have improved a lot since the last one.

  9. Hi Antonia,
Your post looks good and it was good to read it!
You had a good picture, the symbol was cool, your links were helpful, your font was easy to read and it was in readible color. Also your labels look good to me! Things you could do better next year are that you should actually explain some words that you wrote down becuase I'm not learning the same thing you guys are right now and I had no idea what you were talking about in some situations. Also I think you have one or two spelling/grammar mistakes, but otherwise it's good. Also you could've added some more pictures becuase one picture just isn't enough. And the last thing I would correct is that you only did points instead of sentences so you could have added some more detail and maybe you could've done atleast 3 paragraphs! Other than that, your last post of the year was great!
